Trauma & EMDR

Virtual therapy anywhere in Texas; In-person in Grapevine, TX.

“I want to broaden that definition of trauma to beyond the ‘obviously trauma’ experiences. These events change the way we see the world, and change the way we believe we ARE in the world.”

– Jamie English, PhD, LCSW-S

Does it feel like your past just won’t let you be?

Whether it’s memories of major incidents that shake you to your core, or the smaller, nagging anxieties that chip away at your peace day by day, trauma can be suffocating.

Maybe you find yourself overreacting to small things, or maybe certain words and places leave you frozen or fleeing.

These reactions aren’t just exhausting; they isolate you, making it tough to maintain relationships or simply enjoy a quiet moment alone.

Imagine a day where your past doesn’t dictate your present.

With EMDR, we target both the overwhelming waves from big T traumas and the persistent drips from little T traumas, smoothing out your emotional response.

You'll learn to approach life with a new calm, finding that triggers no longer set off the alarm they used to.

Picture yourself engaging more fully with life, where your energy is spent on living in the moment, not managing your reactions.

No matter the size of the ‘T/t’, your experience will find validation here.

My journey with trauma work began in the early ‘90s when I volunteered at a crime victim crisis center. In the years since, I’ve dedicated myself to helping people shake off the shadows of their past.

Whether you're trying to move past a violent attack or years of being put down at work, I tailor EMDR to fit your story, not the other way around.

We’ll work together to strip those traumatic memories of their power, helping you feel more in control and ready to take on life.

Who EMDR therapy is for:

  • Survivors of sudden trauma

  • Individuals with long-term stress

  • People facing daily triggers

  • Those struggling with past abuse

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is like hitting the refresh button on your brain's response to trauma.

Picture it as a guided daydream where you flick your eyes back and forth, kind of like watching a super-fast tennis match, while recalling a tough memory.

This process—believed to mimic the psychological state during REM sleep—helps your brain rework the painful memory, so it loses its sting and becomes just another story, not an everyday nightmare.

It's not about erasing the past but changing the emotional hold it has on you, making you feel less stuck and more in control of your own mind.

  • Interested in deep, transformative therapy? Consider our 3-day Intensive EMDR Workshops. Designed for those who find it challenging to schedule regular sessions or are seeking accelerated therapeutic progress, these intensives offer a concentrated dose of therapy, equivalent to 3 to 6 months of regular sessions.

Our intensives run over three consecutive days, featuring morning and evening sessions with a significant break in between for mental integration.

*You can qualify for these workshops if you’re already a client and deemed suitable, or through an assessment with Jamie English, PhD, LCSW-S, if you’re new or referred by another therapist.*
