What Are You Looking Forward To?

Five years ago, I learned at a seminar that it is good for your brain to have something you are looking forward, something you are planning  He specifically talked about planning vacations and how the planning the vacation was better for your mental health than the actual vacation.  I took that to heart and decided I wanted to start planning a trip to Hawaii.  But alas, it was only a dream at that point. In December of 2016, I put Hawaii on my Vision Board for the following year.  If you look closely, you will see it, just below the lady bug clip holding it up.  The idea was to go to Hawaii in 2017 because my 25th wedding anniversary was that year.  I have a very vivid thought of "I have no idea how I am ever going to go Hawaii."  But I put it on there nonetheless. In July of 2017, I still did not know how I was going to go to Hawaii.  It's a rather expensive trip and our budget felt a little strapped, even then.  But....while in a thrift shop with my husband, I got this teacup:           I remember the lady checking us out told my husband, "This is her dream."  And it felt like a dream....something you think about but never actually do.  We put that teacup in a prominent place and went on our way.  The Vision Board and the teacup were just two of the ways I wrote my goal down.  I recently heard that writing your goals down makes you 10 times more likely to achieve them.  We did purchase the bulk of our Hawaii trip in 2017, but we didn't actually go until this past week. This is my feet on Waikiki Beach in Oahu, Hawaii!  Hawaii was an amazing trip! What are you looking forward to?  Write your goals down.  See what your journey will be like!
